TRINITY at CHRIST'S RESURRECTION

WHO RESURRECTED JESUS?

GARDEN TOMB

GOD THE FATHER RAISES JESUS

"Greetings from Paul, an apostle. I was chosen to be an apostle, but not by any group or person here on earth. My authority came from none other than Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Jesus from death."    Galatians 1:1  ERV  (Easy-To-Read-Version)

HOLY SPIRIT RAISES JESUS

"For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit,"

1 Peter 3:1  MEV  (Modern English Version)

JESUS RAISES UP HIMSELF

"Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”  The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and yet You will raise it up in three days?”  But He was speaking about the temple of His body.

John 2:19-21  NASB  (New American Standard Bible)

"No one takes it away from Me, but from Myself, I lay it down. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

John 10:18  LSB  (Legacy Standard Bible)

GOD RAISED UP JESUS

"God raised Jesus from death. God set him free from the pain of death. Death could not hold him."

Acts 2:24  ICB  (International Childrens Bible)

JESUS IN THE WILDERNESS

40 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING

JESUS IN THE JUDEAN WILDERNESS

"When Jesus returned from the Jordan River, the power of the Holy Spirit was with him, and the Spirit led him into the desert.  For 40 days Jesus was tested by the devil, and during that time he went without eating. When it was all over, he was hungry."

TEMPTATION OF HUNGER

"The devil said to Jesus, “If you are God's Son, tell this stone to turn into bread.”

Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say, ‘No one can live only on food.’ ”

TEMPTATION OF PRIDE

Then the devil led Jesus up to a high place and quickly showed him all the nations on earth.  The devil said, “I will give all this power and glory to you. It has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. Just worship me, and you can have it all.”

Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say:

‘Worship the Lord your God
    and serve only him!’ ”

TEMPTATION OF DEATH

Finally, the devil took Jesus to Jerusalem and had him stand on top of the temple. The devil said, “If you are God's Son, jump off.  The Scriptures say:

‘God will tell his angels
    to take care of you.
They will catch you
    in their arms,
and you will not even hurt
your feet on the stones.’ ”

Jesus answered, “The Scriptures also say, ‘Don't try to test the Lord your God!’ ”

After the devil had finished testing Jesus in every way possible, he left him for a while.

CENTURION'S SERVANT

 JESUS HEALS A GENTILE

CAPERNAUM

"After he had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum."

"Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him.  When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant."

"And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.”  And Jesus went with them.

When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.  Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed.  For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”

Luke 7:1-9  ESV  (English Standard Version)

JESUS HEALS A LEPER

 LORD IF YOU'RE WILLING

YOU CAN MAKE ME CLEAN

"Then a man with leprosy came to him and, on his knees, begged him, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched him. “I am willing,” he told him. “Be made clean.”
Immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.
Then he sternly warned him and sent him away at once, telling him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer what Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”

Yet he went out and began to proclaim it widely and to spread the news, with the result that Jesus could no longer enter a town openly. But he was out in deserted places, and they came to him from everywhere."

ARE YOU WEARY AND HEAVY LADEN?

JESUS GIVES PRAISE TO HIS FATHER

REGION OF GALILEE

"At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.  Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do."

JESUS SPEAKS TO THE CROWD

“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

JESUS CALLS INTO THE CROWD TO  'COME AND FOLLOW ME,' FOR ALL WHO BELIEVE IN HIM, AND DESIRE TO FOLLOW BEING HIS DISCIPLE.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

ARE THERE FABLES IN THE BIBLE?

 JOTHAM'S FABLE

FABLE BY GIDEON'S YOUNGEST SON

Fables often feature non-human characters, like animals or inanimate objects, that are given human characteristics. These characters are said to think, talk, and act like people.

"One day the trees went out to anoint a king for themselves. They said to an olive tree, ‘Be our king.’

“But the olive tree answered, ‘Should I give up my olive oil? It’s used to honor gods and people alike. Should I give that up just to rule over the trees?’

“Next, the trees said to a fig tree, ‘Come and be our king.’

“But the fig tree replied, ‘Should I give up my fruit? It’s so good and sweet. Should I give that up just to rule over the trees?’

“Then the trees said to a vine, ‘Come and be our king.’

“But the vine answered, ‘Should I give up my wine? It cheers up gods and people alike. Should I give that up just to rule over the trees?’

“Finally, all the trees spoke to a bush that had thorns. They said, ‘Come and be our king.’

“The bush asked the trees, ‘Do you really want to anoint me as king over you? If you do, come and rest in my shade. But if you don’t, I will destroy you! Fire will come out of me and burn up the cedar trees of Lebanon!’

Judges 9:8-15  NIRV (New International Readers Version)

Jotham, the only surviving son of Gideon,  who missed the massacre orchestrated by his half-brother, Abimelech. Jotham's fable is a curse against Abimelech and Shechem's leaders, predicting that they will destroy each other.

The fable uses trees to represent people of Sheckem, and the bramble bush to represent Abimelch.  The fable's message is that a bramble bush would not make a good king over the trees.
