JOSEPHS BROTHERS WERE JEALOUS

 AFTER HEARING JOSEPHS TWO DREAMS

"And his brothers were jealous of him, but his

father kept the saying in mind."  Genesis 37:11  ESV

All of Joseph's brothers were sent out to work,

watching the sheep.

"Now his brothers went to pasture their father's

flock near Shechem."  Genesis 37:12  ESV

While Joseph the youngest, had an easy job of

 going out, to see if his brothers are doing well.

"And Israel said to Joseph, “Are not your brothers pasturing the flock at Shechem? Come, I will send you to them.” And he said to him, “Here I am.” So he said to him, “Go now, see if it is well with your brothers and with the flock, and bring me word.” So he sent him from the Valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem."  Genesis 37:13-15  ESV

When Joseph arrived at Shechem, the flock of sheep and his brothers were no where to be found.  A MYSTERY MAN approached Joseph.

"And a man found him wandering in the fields.  And the man asked him, “What are you seeking?” “I am seeking my brothers,” he said. “Tell me, please, where they are pasturing the flock.” And the man said, “They have gone away, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them at Dothan."  Genesis 37:15-17  ESV

Why did his brothers go to Dothan, about 15 miles north/west of Shechem. 
Who is this mystery man who led Joseph to Dothan?

"They saw him from afar, and before he

 came near to them they conspired against him

WHO IS THIS MYSTERY MAN?

MIDNIGHT VISITOR

FISH DINNER IN GALILIEE

What if your best friend arrived from a long journey at midnight.  He is hungry and knocks on your door asking for some food?

"And he said to them, If any of you had a friend, and went to him at midnight and said to him, Friend, lend me three loaves, because a friend of mine has come from a journey to me and I have nothing to set before him,"   Luke 11:5-6  NMB

Would you tell your friend to be quiet; I'll wake everyone up if I get you some bread?

"and the man inside were to answer and say, Don’t trouble me; the door is now shut, and my servants are with me in the chamber; I cannot rise and give them to you – "  Luke 11:7  NMB

Because his friend was persistent and wouldn't leave without some bread; he got up and gave him what he wanted.

"I say to you, though he would not arise and give him a loaf because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he would rise and give him as many as he needed."   Luke 11:8  NMB

We are like the midnight visitor asking our Father in heaven for what we need.

"And so I say to you: ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."  Luke 11:9  NMB

Would we have received anything if we didn't come to the Father's house seeking, knocking and asking?

"For everyone that asks, receives, and he that seeks, finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened."

If you asked your parents for bread, are they going to served you a rock?  Or if you ask for a fish dinner, are you going to get a snake?   Or if you ask for an egg for breakfast, are they going to give you a scorpion?

"If the son asks for bread from any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for fish, will he give him a serpent for a fish?"   "Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?"

SHADOW MYSTERY?

STRANGEST THINGS OF THE BIBLE

Isaiah the prophet visits King Hezekiah, telling him he is going to die soon.

"In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”  Isaiah 38:1 NIV

Hezekiah wept and prayed.

"Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.  Isaiah 38:2-3  NIV

GOD spoke to Isaiah the prophet a word telling him that he would live 15 more years.

"Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah:  “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.  And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.   Isaiah 38:4-6  NIV

GOD's sign to Hezekiah that he his going to fulfill His promise of extending his life and protecting him from Assyrisa; will be moving the Sun's shadow backwards.

  

“‘This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised:  I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.’” So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.  Isaiah 38:7-8  NIV  New International Version

GOD is able to do this miracle any way he wants.  It says that GOD moved sunlight and created a shadow ten steps back.

While stopping the earth and moving it backwards is possible for God; it would cause a great world wide disaster.  The earth is spinning 1,000 mph and a sudden stop would cause earthquakes, tsunamis and wind storms.

And it is possible for God to move the Sun too; but this would shake up our solar system.  All the planets would be effected by the sudden change in the Sun's gravitational position.  Comets and asteroid would be moved too.

GOD IS LIGHT  

1 John 1:5 NASB

God is able to block Sunlight, like the 3 hours Jesus was on the cross, the entire earth was in darkness.

God is able to create his own light too; replacing Sunlight, and making it appear the shadow is moving 10 steps back.
